Help and FAQs
Q. Is your site a secure site?
A. Yes totally secure, we use HSBC to take payments which is one of the most secure in the country.
Q. What do I do if I can’t duct my extractor out through an external wall?
A. You can simply re-circulate instead by using Charcoal filters. (Purchase separately)
Q. Does the new extractor come with ducting?
A. No… Ducting is always sold separately due to different requirements for each property.
Q. Do all extractors fit the same size ducting?
A. Most new hoods require 5” (125mm), where as most old extractors took 4” (100mm). Always check individual model.
Q. Can I fit a double oven under the worktop?
A. Yes you can, but it needs to be a built under double oven, which are smaller in height than a built in. (about 715mm high)
Q. Can I fit any built-in microwave into a wall unit?
A. No… Although space wise it would go into a wall unit (300mm deep), there isn’t enough air space to operate, but some manufacturers have a purpose made model. See CDA & Neff.
Q. Do you cut worktops to size?
A. Unfortunately we don’t cut worktops to size as we recommend all worktops are fitted onsite due to some walls not being straight etc. We don’t offer a direct fitting service but we have some contacts for kitchen fitters on the home page.
Q. On your solid surfaces will it have to be templated then a long wait before fitting?
A. No… The worktops come as over sized blanks. They can then be cut using standard fitting tools.
Q. What height should my extractor be from the hob?
A. 750mm is what most kitchen fitter’s use. Please refer to manufacturers spec if you need to go lower.
Q. Will the hob work with L.P.G. Gas?
A. L.P.G. jets are included on certain hobs where indicated. Otherwise in most cases they can be purchased separately from the manufacturer’s spares department.
Q. Will I have to buy new pans if I have an induction hob?
A. Try a fridge magnet on the base of your pans; if it sticks they will be fine otherwise you would have to change the pans.
Q. Can I fit an extractor that’s wider than my hob?
A. Yes this is fine, many kitchen designers put a chimney hood that’s 100-300mm wider than the hob, and this creates a nice feature.
Q. Will a plinth heater replace my radiator?
A. Yes…There are two types of plinth heaters. Standard plug in electric which just takes away chill or adds extra heat, or the Smiths Hydronic (Wet) mains plumbed system which will fully heat most rooms. (Different sizes available for different room sizes) See “Smiths heaters”
